Welcome back to the resuscitated Aurora page.
Aurora is a Science Fiction Role Playing Game (RPG). I started writing the game while completing my PhD in biochemistry. At first it was purely procrastination, but as time passed and the world developed Aurora grew into something else. Many of my friends at the University were also completing PhDs in a wide variety of fields. I wanted to try and write the first peer reviewed SF game. So we worked to develop a universe were the aliens were as real as we could make them. From the anatomy and biochemistry of the creature itself, to the societies they would form, and the technology they would use, we strove to make it all plausible.
In a few places we had to “stretch” the limits of science, as it's tough to get FTL otherwise, but even so we tried to keep it within the realm of possibilities based on our current understanding of space-time.
There are currently two products available. Aurora the RPG comes on a CD (Mac and Windows compatible) and contains the pdf files of the three books (rules, reference and a quickstart guide), as well as about 300 MB of additional art, sound files, and graphics clips. There is also an Aurora Ships Supplement which contains additional rules and discussions of how spaceships work, and provides extra rules for space combat. This also comes on a CD with pdf files of the 4 books (reference, rules, example ships, and a space-navy manual), as well as about 400 MB of additional art and CGI clips.
Each CD costs $20. This includes shipping anywhere in the world.
If you are in Australia or New Zealand then that will be 20 NZ dollars. Everywhere else in the world it is 20 US dollars.
If you have any questions, please email me at stephen at suncrow dot com.
Eventually I will post art and sample pdfs, but for now this is a start.
